Rolling Flat Twists

We've done a lot of loose hair lately. Hubby loves the girl's hair loose. I do too, but it's a lot of work. I have to spritz it every morning which the girl hates. And I hate starting off the day with whining and crying over hair! Then I have to saturate it with leave-in and go through it smoothing the matted frizziness from sleep and clumping curls. All that work and then by the end of the day it looks like I never touched it again.

This weekend instead of cornrowing I did some rolling twists which are quicker and look just as nice, in my opinion. I started in a sunburst part pattern at the forehead (my favorite way to part the hair in front) and wanted them to continue to the nape of her neck but didn't want to take the time. Doing a full head with patterned parts is tricky on a toddler. This was a quick, no-stress hair style. Here's how it turned out.

This morning I'm going to remove the twists and pop a head band in it for a pulled back chunky twist out. I'll try to get pics of that too.
Ciao!

Sleep Caps 2

I finally received my Nadia's Sleep Caps order in the mail the other day. You can't choose patterns and colors, and now I know why. Anyway, I put one on the girl one night after she'd fallen asleep. It seemed a little loose. Sure enough, it was nowhere to be found in the morning. We have just not had any luck with sleep caps so far. I am hoping her head will grow into these, but that still does not solve our immediate problem. Anyway, here they are, happily modeled by Nene and Rabbit.

Freestyle

Last week the girl wore her hair free and loose every day. For a few days I'd just spritz with water in the morning, add leave in conditioner, and clip a bow in off-center. Later in the week I put it into two-strand twists to stretch it out while it dried. Then I did a twist out and put a head band on it and voila! The cute style below. Nani is finally leaving headbands alone so she wore this style to day care one day and even came home with the headband!

This week we are doing puffs. Blah blah, nothing exciting. Have a great rest of the week!

Weekend Hairstyle - full head cornrows

Ok, the intricate braid patterns we saw in Ethiopia inspired this weekend's hairstyle. I did it in three sessions, one on the changing table, one during nap time while my girl slept, and the final session in the bathtub. Unfortunately it's only going to last a couple of days. It's already seriously fuzzy. Does this get better as she gets older and I get more experienced?
